Rebuilding SEO on 2,686 products after a WooCommerce import
Migration tools left SEO titles, descriptions and product types empty on almost every product. How 2,415 products were rewritten and verified on a migrated Shopify store.

The WooCommerce import moved products, images and prices, but not the SEO fields. On Shopify almost every product launched with an empty SEO title and description, so Google fell back to the raw product title for every listing.
A coverage query even reported the catalogue as fully typed. It was wrong: Shopify's presence filter matches empty values, and four samples showed every product type was blank.
The work, step by step

Dumped the whole catalogue
Every product exported to local files first, because counts from the admin could not be trusted.

Product type from rules, verified
A rule engine wrote a product type to 2,663 products across 57 types. The catalogue was re-dumped and diffed afterwards: 0 mismatches. 23 genuine oddballs were left empty rather than guessed.

Titles to a real character budget
SEO titles and descriptions were written to 2,415 products at a 60 character budget, including 38 promotional "Buy..." titles that were a Google Merchant Center risk.

Human copy kept
74 descriptions a person had already written were read first and sent back unchanged.

Theme suffix fixed
The theme appended the store name to product titles, costing 13 characters each. One condition in the theme dropped it on product pages only.
